Please answer each question below.
- Describe the main points made in Hopwood et al. (2019).
- Describe the main points in Ruggero et al (2019). There is substantial overlap between the two assigned articles, so please don’t include material in your summary of Ruggero et al. that is already included in your summary of Hopwood et al.
- Briefly describe the symptoms impacting a fictional client of your choosing. How would these symptoms fit into
- A DSM diagnosis or diagnoses – which DSM diagnosis or diagnoses (e.g., major depressive disorder, schizophrenia) would best fit this client?
- The HiTOP model. Which spectra or subfactors seem to be relevant in understanding the problems facing your client (Figure 1 from the Ruggero article will be helpful here)?
- In what ways, if any, do you think HiTOP may be useful in helping with assessing patients who have mental health problems?
- In what ways, if any, do you think HiTOP may be useful in helping with treating patients who have mental health problems?
- Based upon your understanding of the DSM, RDOC, and HiTOP systems, please provide a forecast of how the diagnostic system will evolve? Will the diagnostic system improve substantially? In what ways might changes (if any) to the diagnostic system result in better or worse treatment outcomes for patients?
