DIRECTIONS

The purpose of this assignment is to summarize the concepts of contemporary Early Childhood Education models and child care programs. (CO2)There are many videos available on the Internet that depicts models of early childhood education. For this assignment, you are to:

  1. Find a video clip for each of these models: Montessori, High Scope, Reggio Emilia and Head Start. YouTube is an excellent resource.
  2. After you review each video, describe five characteristics you observed about how each program is conducted. Please include a working URL link AND a URL address for each video you review.
  1. In addition, write a 500 word essay about which program you prefer and why.

  • Reggio Emilia: The Reggio Emilia model is from Italy and highlights the learner’s inherent creativity and curiosity. It emphasizes exploration, collaboration, and the arts.
  • Head Start: Head Start is an all-inclusive early childhood approach in the United States that focuses on promoting school readiness for children from low-income families.
