Assessment tasks are designed to assist students to achieve the learning outcomes of the unit. They are an integral part of the teaching and learning process and should be attempted by all students.
To achieve a pass in this unit, students must achieve 50% of overall marks.

Instructions to students
• This is a take-home assignment. You are required to do research and answer accordingly.
• You may refer to your training materials and other researches like visiting the organisation, observing operations and conducting interviews, etc. or you could use websites related to the research for completing the answers. Answering in one’s own words based on the understanding from class lectures and reading from text materials is much appreciated and will fetch better marks than copying directly from the textbooks and other sources. Students may also be tested orally before awarding the marks.
• All the tasks should be completed by the students within the stipulated period as instructed by the lecturer.
• Lecturer reserves the right to test the originality of the answers provided, by asking the student to demonstrate the work done through presentation or by oral examination and have the right to award ‘ZERO’ if the student is unable to prove the work as his/her own.

Description of Assessment –
Select a country from the given list (France, Italy, Spain, Turkey, and Germany). Research and analyse the tourism trends, the steps involved in the planning and development of its tourism industry. Identify and analyse any FOUR market segments to the destination.
The report should include:
1. Introduction
A. An introduction of the selected country
B. Historical development of its tourism industry
2. Identify and analyse any three latest trends and issues of tourism in the chosen country (1 mark for identification and 2 marks for analysis of each trend/issue X3 = 9 marks)

3. Discuss with relevant examples any five steps involved in the tourism planning process of
the selected country (15 Marks)
(3 marks for each step X 5 steps =15 Marks)
4. Identify and analyse any three market segments to the destination. (9 Marks)
